Mom, we might need this!
Bub was ready to bring this giant tube tv home when he saw it at the Rec center... the junk collector in me almost grabbed it... but cooler heads prevailed and I did not back my truck up to the front door...
My best freebie find, to date, remains the foosball table. That find? Legendary.

A Sunday in February
Such a busy weekend!
On Valentine's Day, Boyd had his buddies Joseph and Thomas come over... Evey had Ryan over for a sleepover...
It was mostly uneventful. Pizzas for dinner. Girls disappeared at the end of the evening.
A good day!
Saturday, no game for Boyd. I took full advantage -- went and worked out, then did recycling. Once KU was about to tip, I was outdoors in the HOJ, wearing the ski mask Judy got me, so I could watch the KU game while I grilled chicken. The temperature kept rising... by midday, it was warm outside. I also tore out a lot of the junky weeds next to the HOJ, and Boyd helped me burn them.
Then Evey left for a sleepover, so it was just the three of us. Adrianne made me watch "Parenthood." It was terrible. But still, a great night!
Sunday comes... we missed church since we were waiting for Evey to get home. So then we did these things:

Sunday comes... we missed church since we were waiting for Evey to get home. So then we did these things:
- I worked out
- I got pulled over for speeding
- I got a warning, not a ticket
- We went to Kansas Sampler to buy Chiefs Super Bowl gear
- We went for a walk downtown since it was so nice out
- Mom convinced us to go to Free State for a light lunch
- We bought Virginia some roses
- We almost wrecked as we skidded out of control down the randomly snowy country road
- We got home in time to clean up and make dinner for the Johnsons
- Turns out we had an extra two hours to do whatever because my sister is on Mexican time
- The girls made lasagna
- We met Herschel
- We watched some more Saturday Night Live with Adam Driver
- We went to bed, exhausted
It was a good random Sunday in February!

Chiefs, CHAMPIONS!
I can't believe it! We won the Super Bowl!
It's been an exhausting six weeks since we nabbed the first-round bye when the Pats lost to the Fins. Yes, exhausting, as if I were playing in the games... but I wasn't, I was just watching...
This morning I woke up and we were Super Bowl champs. It's really real!
We had a great party at the house. We've hosted a few friends at the house every postseason game. Special thanks to Adro, Judy and the kids in helping me with everything. I'll forever recall Judy's taco soup, Evey's li'l smokies and Adro's queso -- a dinner of champions!
The above photo was taken pregame in the HOJ. A detail we shouldn't forget in 10, 20 years... Sunday got up to almost 70 degrees outside. It was a beautiful day! And it had a beautiful ending.
Eventually we took the part back to the house, but after we won, we raced to the HOJ for champagne, loud music and yes... fireworks! It's good to live in the country. It's good to be a CHIEF!
GO CHIEFS!!!
