Also pictured are my mom and dad, and mom, dad and Adro sharing a laugh. It was perfect, when they arrived on Saturday, the weather was so nice, we just grabbed a few Boulevard Wheats and relaxed on the front porch. You couldn't ask for a nicer, more relaxing Saturday afternoon. And, sorry, but Evey wasn't there (she was at the parade). So that made it REALLY relaxing, as in, we didn't have to chase her explorin' butt all over the place. We could just chill...

Happy birthday Dad!

My Dad came up over the weekend to celebrate his birthday with us... I think this was all he really wanted on his birthday -- a photo of him with his three grandkids.

Looks good! They sort of look like a super-hero team, don't they? I think Jett knew what he was doing when he was flexing for this photo. Jett's like, the strong guy of the super team... Marina has the cat claws she's showing off... Evey has the mind blasts that she's contemplating... and my Dad is like the Professor X of the group, just sitting back and nodding approvingly.

Our drive-thru window

This is unusual, but our house -- one of the oldest in Lawrence, dating back to the 1870s -- has a drive-thru window.



I asked the mother-in-law about this window a while back. Judy knows a lot about the history of this house; she spent a few of her early childhood years living in this house before moving next door. Judy told me some renters installed the window, it was an older couple who liked to keep tabs on the neighbors. It was Judy's theory that this drive-thru window, which is about 10 feet from the ground outside, was good for... spying.

Evey likes to spy through this window as well. It's perfect for her, too, as the washing machine is right there, and she can stand on top of it (with parental supervision, of course) and stick her head out the window and see the world.

I've included a couple photos of the view from outside looking up at Evey. Do you think she'd be happy to know there was a giant grasshopper above her head when I snapped this photo? Probably, actually. She has her dad's curiosity when it comes to strange insects and animals. I've also included a video of Evey saying a few words before switching to sign language on me, and then switching to simple, "throw your hands in the air, and wave 'em like you just don't care," which is a universal language, after all. Yes, Evey is multilingual. English, Spanish, American Sign, and Rapper.

She's... 6-weeks-old now?

I've known Bauer since I was in elementary school... we were neighbors growing up. Great to see my old friend enjoying fatherhood.

The photos are of Evey (two times, expressing her overall shock and awe of the prize), a photo of how close I came to birdie-ing the same hole two times in a row (No. 12 at Alvamar Public -- I played the back nine two times in a row) and a photo I took at Astro Kitty Comics the other day (are they EVER open?) I'm sure Jai has already seen this, but I just wonder if he'd ever imagine one of his comics (El Diablo) would be on the top of a sign that also was promoting the Watchmen and the Spirit?!? WOW! Some rainbow!

We were treated to yet another awesome rainbow in Lawrence on Sunday night. The photo doesn't do it justice -- it was a nice one. I took a few photos as well as a video that also doesn't do it justice. It was a complete rainbow, and it also was a double rainbow. Just more proof that Lawrence, Kan., is God's favorite college town.

I'm not gonna lie -- this is a long one. It's a little over 4 minutes. But there are a few solid laughs in it if you're a fan of Evey. And if you're at this site, I'm assuming you are.

Evey and Adro on the bus

This was taken last weekend as we rode the shuttle bus to the KU game. Evey had a good time.

Great weekend here, hope you had one too. Feels like we got lots done, but we also had some time to relax. We were scheduled to head down to Mulvane to see my folks, but we cancelled at the last minute. The tornado warnings and flash flooding warnings were enough to keep us from going.

Congrats to David and C.C., who got married this weekend!

Rock Chalk, '64 Impala

This is Lindsey, Sadie, Evey and me at the opening KU football game. As you can see, it was a little warm that day, and Evey also had just ripped out one of her pigtail holder thingies.

Here's a mind-blowing fact for you... Evey is almost two... has been to three KU football games in her life. And she's never... seen... KU... lose!

Hey, random question: Do you know anyone who has empty garage space in Lawrence and would be willing to rent it out? I want to store my 64 Impala soon. Email me if you know someone. Thanks!

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia/LL Cool J

I watched an episode of "Sons of Anarchy" on FX tonight... not bad. Not enough to really bring me back for more though.

But I did catch this promo, and it had me cracking up! It's for the return of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" on FX, which I highly recommend! The video is a spoof of LL Cool J's "Going back to Cali." It looks like something Solo and I would have tried to pull off by now if we were still making videos like we did in high school. Well, we would have left out the gay dudes. But it's still hilarious!
