Some rainbow!

We were treated to yet another awesome rainbow in Lawrence on Sunday night. The photo doesn't do it justice -- it was a nice one. I took a few photos as well as a video that also doesn't do it justice. It was a complete rainbow, and it also was a double rainbow. Just more proof that Lawrence, Kan., is God's favorite college town.

I'm not gonna lie -- this is a long one. It's a little over 4 minutes. But there are a few solid laughs in it if you're a fan of Evey. And if you're at this site, I'm assuming you are.

Evey and Adro on the bus

This was taken last weekend as we rode the shuttle bus to the KU game. Evey had a good time.

Great weekend here, hope you had one too. Feels like we got lots done, but we also had some time to relax. We were scheduled to head down to Mulvane to see my folks, but we cancelled at the last minute. The tornado warnings and flash flooding warnings were enough to keep us from going.

Congrats to David and C.C., who got married this weekend!

Rock Chalk, '64 Impala

This is Lindsey, Sadie, Evey and me at the opening KU football game. As you can see, it was a little warm that day, and Evey also had just ripped out one of her pigtail holder thingies.

Here's a mind-blowing fact for you... Evey is almost two... has been to three KU football games in her life. And she's never... seen... KU... lose!

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia/LL Cool J

I watched an episode of "Sons of Anarchy" on FX tonight... not bad. Not enough to really bring me back for more though.

But I did catch this promo, and it had me cracking up! It's for the return of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" on FX, which I highly recommend! The video is a spoof of LL Cool J's "Going back to Cali." It looks like something Solo and I would have tried to pull off by now if we were still making videos like we did in high school. Well, we would have left out the gay dudes. But it's still hilarious!

New toy!

Yup, we got a new toy at the Jones casa... it's a KEGERATOR!

I'll have the complete story up here eventually (I'm writing the long version up for Pulp Legacy # 43) but for now, I'll just say this: IT RULES!!!

Me and Adro got it for each other as an anniversary gift to each other. Yeah, I know, it's still a month to our 2-year. But we couldn't wait!

So far I think it's great. We've got Boulevard Wheat on it, and it's soooooo good. We've enjoyed it at the last two tailgate parties at my house, and it was a big hit.

I've also noticed we've had an uptick in the number of friends who 'drop by.' A coincidence? I think not!

Perfect SNL skit

I was inspired by McCain's speech tonight... inspired to draw a few cartoons!

Me and Adrianne were watching it, and we couldn't help but laugh at how bad the backgrounds were for McCain early in the speech. The green screen and the blue screen were especially bad, and so was the field of sunflowers.

I think Saturday Night Live needs to pounce on this. You have McCain, and he's giving his speech. They cut away to the crowd. Cut back, and McCain has a new background, something bad, like the green screen. Cut away to crowd. Come back to McCain, now he has something slightly more ridiculous behind him... Adro suggested a cat eating spaghetti (from Talk Soup, I guess) and that would work. So would anything crazy, like... well, like I've drawn it here.

Thank you, Republican National Convention, for inspiring me to get out the drawing pad... it's been years, probably since college, since I've drawn a political cartoon!

Watched most of the Republican Convention tonight. Had it on in the background while I worked, at least. Some quick thoughts (I know, politics....)

Palin did well, she's a good speaker. I thought she was too sarcastic, though. Seemed like she was running for student body president with all the flippant remarks, rather than vice president. I thought it was smart when she started talking about children with disablities, if I were her, I'd beat that drum.

I thought Rudy was bad. Thought his speech was bad. He set it up nicely, but then it went nowhere. He basically told me I needed to vote for McCain because he was a war prisoner. I absolutely respect McCain, but Rudy can give me more reasons than that... after all, his people voted for W for some reason, it sure as hell wasn't because of his military record. Also, Rudy came across as rude to me, when he just started laughing about how terrible of a candidate Obama was. He seemed kind of sinister up there, laughing like a fool. It's like he's trying to appeal to all the Red Staters who might be trying to come to a decision by making them think Obama is such a stupid choice, they need to never tell anyone they were considering him. Also, did Rudy have a slight lisp? Either that, or he was buzzed. He may have been buzzed, that would have explained the laughing.

Huckabee? Eh, he's fine. Didn't move me or anything. I did think his final story about the veterans bringing the desks to the kids was rather weak. But, hey, whatever. It was a story.

I thought Romney was terrible. He did a lot of the scary Republican stuff... he's the kind of guy I watch, and it spooks me to think that some of my friends may be watching him and saying, "yup, that's right, Mit."

At the end, the McCain-obot came out on the stage and systematically gave handshakes/hugs. I wonder where the real McCain was that was so important they had to send in the robot version? Or maybe there was a security threat, hence, the robot. Sadly, they forgot to program the McCain-obot with any parting comments, like, "Goodnight," or, "God bless America!" He just said, "did we pick the right vice presidential candidate or what?" And then the poor TV crews kept on him as he rolled around the stage, hands never lifting higher than his shoulders. It was an awkward ending, but robots have never been that good at parting shots, with the exception of Arnold.

It went by quietly (we celebrated on Monday at T-Rex in the Legends -- that dinosaur themed restaurant next door to Dave and Buster's) but me and Evey still want to wish Adro a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Who's laughing now?

This weekend was the 7th Annual John Wake Laugh Olympics. We had 61 people involved, and raised... over $7,000 for charity!!!

Thanks to everyone who helped out, showed up, donated, thought about us, exchanged a high-five, bought a raffle ticket, bought a beer, punched a punching bag, spilled a beer and threw up! (I think at least five people can claim to have accomplished all of the above!)

The day started off at Orchards Golf Course. From there, we went to Wayne and Larry's to punch a punching bag and see who could hit it the hardest (on a 1,000-point scale, as measured by a computer). After we all hurt our wrists by punching the bag too hard, we went and played pool. From there, the party bus took us all to Rick's Place, where we played pool, shuffleboard and darts while eating a huge meal donated by Lone Steer BBQ and Peking Taste.

And did I already mention -- over $7,000 for charity? Not bad for a day-long party, huh?
