Be Royal

I didn't catch the home run ball, but apparently the KC TV crew liked my Royals jersey, as I made the KC broadcast a few times, according to a bunch of my friends.

My phone was blowing up all game, asking if I was in Cleveland at the game. Lervik said the cameraman had a crush on me because he showed me about four different times.

As soon as the ball went over my head I figured I might be on TV, so I started waving my hat. The good news is, according to Brent Vignery, you couldn't see who caught the ball (or my feeble attempt at catching it) and it looked like I may have caught it... although on twitter, a superintendent friend of mine called me out for NOT catching the ball... so who knows.

The guy to my right caught the ball. For some reason he was asked by one fan to autograph a program... and that same fan asked me to also sign his program...

Princess camp 2015

Last year for princess camp. Evey loves it. She got home and excitedly told me which princesses (princi?) she got to dance with.

She is definitely my little princess!

Bedtime! Well... OK...

Bedtime!

Well, the kids are reading in bed... it's 10 p.m., but how am I going to tell them to shut that down? Hard to get mad when they clearly enjoy reading so much.

***

Evey had what seems to be her worst nightmare ever, last night. She was pretty freaked out.

It was 3 a.m. and it was hard to be sympathetic, but I tried my best. I suggested that maybe we just needed to DO SOMETHING at that awful hour... you know, wake up and play Uno or something, if it was that bad...

But then I fell back asleep and my little sweetie was still watching the shadows.

So then I'm asleep, and I sense something next to me, maybe breathing...

And Evey SHRIEKS, "A werewolf!" and I shoot awake.

It's Boyd, he's awake now, and just watching me sleep from the side of the bed. Evey somehow mistook her little brother for a werewolf. Yeesh.

OK, Boydee, get in bed. LET'S ALL GO TO BED, OK?!?

Then this morning, Boyd looks at me and says, "Dad, look! I have a werewolf on my head!"

So you know the Jayhawks were playing hoops at weird time this last week, right? The "University Olympic Games" or whatever it was called, was in South Korea... so weird tip times here in Kansas.

Monday's gold medal match tipped at 7 a.m. local time. I was up and ready. Boyd is an early riser, so he came down to watch it with me. He watched a little, played with Thomas the Train a little, meandered through the house a little... whatever.

The next morning, Boyd woke me up at 7 a.m. "Dad, can we watch basketball again?"

And I hate mornings (even 7 a.m.) but something inside me said "YES!" and we went downstairs and re-watched the first quarter of the Gold Medal game.

That's my boy!

Great seeing Melissa tonight in Lawrence!

We started off at Salty Iguana with the family, then her and I went to Johnny's for a beer, before calling it a night.

Kind of a strange dinner, to be honest. Why? Well, Evey has become a pretty big fan of her pen pal, Melissa. She was SUPER excited that she was getting to see Melissa in person. But she wanted more.

"When are you coming over again?" "Come over!" "When are we making enchiladas again?" "Can you spend the night tonight?" -- those were the common questions from Evey. Usually she's not so aggressive. We all got a chuckle, but mostly I was thinking to myself, "What has gotten into Evey tonight?"

And then B.A. (Boyd Atticus most times, but Bad Attitude on this day) was being a stinker at the dinner table. Acting a fool. I let him get by as long as I could before we had to go outside and end our good time... but that's what happens when he eats rice and beans with his bare hands!

Still, it was great to see Melissa. I look forward to the next time.

Sidewalk Sale is tomorrow. I think I'm ready.

I asked Evey her three favorite ice creams. Her response:

1. Chocolate
2. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
3. Chocolate Bladder (?)

Mine:

1. Strawberry
2. Strawberry cheesecake
4. Chocolate chip cookie dough (a flavor I used to dislike!)

Grabbed beers with Ted last night, and watched the All-Star Game. It was a fun night.

Maybe the best location was Louise's Downtown, and their $4.75 schooners.

We reminisced when we enjoyed $1 schooners...

I've got a bunch of random photos to post to the blog. Soon.

I better get to bed... sidewalk sale tomorrow!

4th of July, 2015

We had a good time on the 4th this year. Yes, we had a garage sale that led into the 4th, but it was still good.

Best thing about the party, in my book? The jukebox and the kegreator were both in the gym at the time of the party... also,
