Boyd and Jules

Here is a pic of Boydee and Jules Hendren, at Jaron's 1st birthday party. This is a blurry photo, but it's all I've got right now that shows a little bit of his new haircut. I'll get better photos after this next cut -- he's already about due.

Jules and Boyd got along very well. I was happy to see my son talking to a girl at a party, because that was something I never did. And here he was doing it at age 15 months! And she's a cutie, too! That a baby Boydee!

Boyd had his 15-month check-up while I was away on business. Adro tells me everything went well. Doc was impressed with how many words he knew. She said three words would be fine at this age, but he knows more like ten words, including:

Momma
Dada
E-E
Ball!
MORE!
poo-poooo
agua
Hi!

Evey is almost back to normal. She'll return to school tomorrow. That virus kicked her butt. Still not eating much, but doing better.

Kung-Fu class

Evey has started taking Kung-Fu classes in Eudora and she loves it! This may be the death if her dance career because she tells us she'd much rather do Kung-Fu. She's done three classes so far and the instructor has been very impressed. It's mostly boys in her class... Only three girls, maybe... But Evey doesn't mind.

Next time you see her shout "one! Two! Three!" all the way to ten and watch her go through all the steps. She's got it down already!

Boyd's first real haircut

Here's a shot of B.A. At the barber. He enjoyed it, sat still the entire time and just looked around. He saw me smiling in the mirror and smiled right back... Everyone was getting a chuckle out of our good time.

Evey reading a Cinderella book -- age 5 yrs 9 mos

This is exactly what the title says... no editing, no music, just Evey reading a story on camera.

Noteworthy only because 1) she's so darn cute and 2) she's such a good reader.

Wings game pt 3 (We still have that cotton candy if you want it)

I took the family to Independence, Mo., Sunday afternoon for a WICHITA WINGS game! Yeah!

This post, and the two below it, are all photos from the game. (Sorry Boydee, you were sleeping when I took the time to snap some pics... you are going to have to debut your rockin' new haircut on the blog next time!)

The Wings got crushed, but we still had a great time. The Wings took an early lead, then a dude got stomped on his face (one of the Wings) which later resulted in a cheap shot thrown, which resulted in the Wings' top scorer getting ejected from the game, which resulted in the drubbing. Every time the Comets would score, the crowd would be going crazy and Evey would turn and boo and hiss at me, like I had just done something terrible. I kept telling her to express that anger towards the field, not me -- I didn't do anything! But at least she is slowly understanding the concept of booing... I think.

I did buy Evey some cotton candy for once. She always asks for it, never gets it (I always convince her that we need nachos). Well, she took all of two bites of the cotton candy, and was done with it. At least now I can justify to her never buying cotton candy again!

Adro held Boydee for the entire game, and he did sneak in about an hour nap, even though we were right back to the makeshift band. Boyd enjoyed the game, he clapped a lot and never fussed.

Adro enjoyed the game too, actually! When the Wings player got stomped on, that helped Adro establish that the Comets are EVIL (something I learned in 1986) and she was now officially on the side of the Wings, not just there to support her hubby's weird fandom. In fact, I heard her shout "Shoot!" at one of our players, and I asked her, "What?" (thinking, surely she wasn't that into the game, right?) and she responded, "Why didn't he shoot the ball! He was open!"

I was impressed, and suddenly in love with my wife by approximately 17 more degrees (taking that temperature to 17,892 degrees Kelvin... whatever that is).

SO, it took us 40 minutes one way... $17 a ticket... a good time for all.

We like the Sunday afternoon games. 3 p.m. kickoff, so it's not stressful to get there on time, and we don't get home so late. The Comets plays three more Sunday afternoon games this season -- Feb. 10th, 17th and 24th. We'll surely be going to one, maybe two of the three. You're invited to join us. Yes, YOU. Come on, it'll be fun! When was the list time you cheered for the road team???

Bubba and Momma

Boydee has a sleek haircut now -- need to post a photo, I know -- so he really looks different from this pic, taken a week before Christmas.

Evey had her 6-year "well visit" today. Scored in the 50th percentile in weight, the 95th percentile in height. She's already 4'1"! She's a four-footer! She's a giant! The doc even asked me if I've got her playing basketball yet!

Evey also got hit with a painful flu shot today. Don't think I've ever seen her have such a painful reaction to a shot. Poor girl. Screamed and cried. Didn't stop crying for a while. In fact, that might be the first time I've ever seen her cry from a shot. It was rough.

B.A. (Boyd Atticus) is 15 months old now. He'll stand straight up and just kind of hover there for a second, then fall to his butt. Maybe we need to get more intense on training this guy how to walk? But ALL THE OTHER KIDS are doing it (at daycare). Hmm, maybe it's an early sign that B.A. won't succumb easily to peer pressure. You know, they did call me "Safe Seth" when I was a kid...

Ripped the ass out of my jeans today. My wife, eyewitness to the ripping and immediately coming to my defense, told me not to worry about it, because I have "no butt." I'm not nervous about it, really, because those jeans were looking pretty ragged. But my weight loss goal for 2013 (19.5 pounds) is off to a bad start, especially with that double-cheeseburger and fries at Freddy's today. And that was ordered AFTER I had already ripped the ass out of my pants.

Speaking of ripped ass, my two kids were beat-boxing with their butts tonight. Those are some gassy kids. And it's like they do call-backs to each other. One toots, the other responds. "Who's house?" "Run's house!"

Evey told me tonight that her cardboard castle that Santa got her for Christmas should be called the "Toot Castle." I told her that I was fine with that, but let's not make it the Poop Castle. Sheesh.

Air Boydee

Boyd got a real haircut over the holiday... I'll have to post a photo of his new and improved look soon. He looks a lot different!

Hope you had a great holiday. We enjoyed ours. A little sad it's over, but excited to get 2013 started off right.
